Foundation Studies

Foundation Studies is a pre-university program, introducing students to the subjects that are taught at University level, and equips them with the skills and knowledge that will be needed to successfully pass their studies at University.

Foundation Programs

Standard Entry 8 months : Year 11 / UAI 45

The Standard Entry program is 2 semesters in total (8 months). To gain entry into this program, students must complete Australian Year 11 or Year 12 with a UAI of less than 55*. *As at March 2005

The Accelerated Entry program is 1 semester in total (4 months). To gain entry into this program, students must have completed Australian Year 12 with a UAI of 55 or above*. *As at March 2005

To gain entry to the degree from Foundation Studies, you must pass all subjects with an overall average of 65%. Students who do not meet this average can complete the final 2 semesters of the Diploma of Business Administration, and then apply for entry into the second year of the Degree program.

Diploma

The La Trobe University Diploma of Business Administration can be used as a stand-alone qualification into the degree, or as a pathway into the Bachelor of Business.

Diploma Program

Standard Entry 16 months : UAI < 45.00

Accelerated Entry 8 months : UAI < 45.00-49.00

Accelerated Entry with Credit : UAI 50+

The Standard Entry diploma is 4 semesters in total (16 months). The first 2 semesters consist of Foundation Studies subjects (see below) and then the final 2 semesters consist of 1st year university equivalent subjects. Students who have completed year 11 can apply for entry into this program.

The Accelerated Entry diploma is 3 semesters in total (12 months). The program consists of the first semester of the Accelerated Entry Foundation Studies program, followed by 2 semesters of 1st year university equivalent subjects. Students who have completed year 12 with a UAI between 55-61* can apply for this program. *As at March 2005

The Accelerated Entry with Credit diploma is 2 semesters in total (8 months) and the subjects are equivalent to the degree program. Eligible students must have completed Australian Year 12 with a UAI between 62-72*. *As at March 2005

Degree

In order to be considered a place into La Trobe University’s degree program at ACN, year 12 students must meet the UAI requirements.

Bachelor of Business

Standard Entry 3 years: UAI 65

Fast -Track Entry 2 years :UAI 65

The Bachelor of Business standard track is a 3 year degree, and students study 2 semesters per year. Students will have a break from November to February at the end of every year, and resume in March.

The Bachelor of Business fast track is a 2 year degree which gives students the opportunity to graduate a year earlier than the standard track degree. Students study 3 semesters per year, and have 3 weeks holidays at the end of every semester
