Week 4 Evaluation
Student are requesting to have a LIBRARY or higher reimbursement rate All prescribed textbooks through to semester 2007-1 are now available in the ACN library holding. Please ask for borrowing rights at Front Desk. Students can use the the State library or join the library at Uni of Sydney where membership fee is still approximately $50. There is no plan to increase the reimbursement fee of $50.00. See also http://www.auscampus.net/current-students/Library.html
Students want a bigger room (MIS - class size 29 - room 105 and 106) Room 105 and 106 are built to accommodate 30 students.
There is no space to do out work because the tables are too small!!. Makes it difficult to learn. (DFNA - class size 12 - room 105) ACN purchased additional café tables this semester for small group work.
Students request to get the tutorial answer after tutorial from student website. (DFNA - Arlene) There are copyright implications if lecturers were to upload answers directly from instructor's manual; if you require further information following your tutorial, please see Catherine Keast or Hock Thye Chan
Why is this evaluation being conducted on the 4th lesson instead of the last? Students cannot give true feedback and onviously do not year understand the subject. We have not even had our first test. ACN conducts evaluations each semester in Week 4 and Week 10. A general services evaluation of ACN operations is done in Semester 1 of each year (March)
Students request large tables ACN purchased additional café tables this semester for small group work.
Uni to have a library or a room where students can study in a quiet area. Student may use classrooms as a study area when classes are not scheduled in the rooms. See Front Desk for details on classroom usage.
Better classroom, the seating is terrible, half the class cannot view the whiteboard properly. (Room 103) ACN will move the whiteboards.
The classroom is not set up to standard - my text barely fits on the desk on its own. There is no where to write. I get the feel ACN is becoming a cost cutting, with little through to being practical. ACN conducted comparison and noted that many other colleges have the same set up and furniture. More tables will be acquired for group work this semester and in the lead-up to exams, ACN will make available more tables.
Stuents requested to decrease class size. (AMD degree) It has been done. Tutorials are split into two sessions.
Students want us to update the 100 year old article that I had to pay $5 to read. (ELM) Articles are from LTU and the exam questions are based on these articles. ACN has no control on required readings, articles, etc. However, this feedback will be shared with La Trobe via the Academic Director
Week 10 Evaluation
Students need an actual computing room because sharing the lab is inconvenient for everyone.

Lecturers can remove students from the lab if their classes are in session and require the lab. Students are encouraged to discuss this with your lecturer(s).

Students require more access to photocopying and printing.

A review of printing and copying is being conducted on completion of 2006-2 semester, and following the introduction of print management.

Students want ACN to put third year subjects on in the evening because by the third year most students are working full time it makes sense! Those not working full time don't have time restrictions. Subjects offered in the evening are based on rotations. The need to offer units to first and second year part-time students has to be considered as well. The number of classes available is also a factor that has to be considered.
Students want a pool table and LCD TV This will be brought in just after the free beer fridge for all students. Please keep waiting. But seriously, we are investigating the ability to project some limited TV to the student bulletin board, but at present there are licensing issues to overcome.
Students concerns about Air-conditioning which is not working. (On Thursday evening 14 Sept 06) Students may have noticed regular servicing by Noppen air servicemen as we re-balance the air conditioning. This work for Level 1 will be completed the week of 2 October and is expected to fix the issue.
Students require a textbook in the library coz there is none and I needed it. Students are expected to purchase the prescribed textbook and ACN has all prescribed texts in its restricted holding but in limited copies. ACN will continously increase the number of textbooks each semester. In the meantime, please tell us c/o of "Jo" at Front Desk if a text you want is not in stock and we'll look at purchasing it for the library if it's not already in stock.
